The Beauty Of Wine Barrels
Ah, the beauty of a nice white oak barrel is in itself lovely. Add a few eager local artsy volunteers and an a theme of “sea”, then the barrels stay lovely, but now more complex.
We were pretty excited to set up this challenge. Challenge you say? Yes indeed! Painting on a curve 3D surface presents a challenge to first timers and how to make your artwork composition flow. Everybody had a great time and all seven barrels are now on display along the historic corridor of Mare Island, near Savage & Cooke Distillery.
This was an activity during Waterfront Weekend so we also wanted to put out an activity for the general public to participate in. This is where we rolled out our custom, portable mural structure with one side ready to paint, and one side ready to chalk.
