You! Our mural jams are welcoming to all (as long as you are collaborative, communicative and take these opportunities with professionalism).

These are opportunities to design and lead a small group to complete a mural are incredibly useful to artists. We know because we’ve led these initiatives since 2015 when we ran the nonprofit Dragon School our of Oakland’s Chinatown.

These jams opportunities are usually created for artists that are wanting more exposure to their work, rather than the established professional artists (although we occasionally do have professional artists as our guest artist series lead a jam).

Besides the artwork, this is also an exercise in organizing a project. You have to design something and plan on how a small group will help you achieve this design to be realized into a mural.

This wall is 12’ tall by 24’ wide. It’s a nice sized surface for less experienced and advanced artists alike.

Also historically we’ve paid our guest artists a stipend to design and lead the jams. However, we are needing to cut back this year due to other expenses the organization has and the lack of grant money.

We still pay up top $300.000 in supplies which it adequate for all of your paints and brushes, etc. We furnish scaffolding/ladders/ roller pads/drop cloths, etc. Everything except the paint you will want to purchase with your stipend.

This wall is located in Concord, Ca and we can access anytime we want. It’s in a covered parking garage so weather is not an issue.

Our jams are typically planned for a Saturday or Sunday late morning.

We operate as a 100% volunteer run arts nonprofit to help make communities more lively and connected through art.

Also, we have been artist advocates and a huge asset for many aspiring and amateur artists in the Bay Area. We have provided a platform to launch careers, connect with other creative folks and just be a generally well respected resource for the arts community…all without drama, political or social agendas. NO Agenda zone! Are are welcome. Just not insincere or ulterior motive driven types.

We are planning for this to be a late September or early October opportunity. We will work with the selected artist on all of this.
